C.V. Chandrasekhar
C.V. Chandrasekhar studied music and dance in Kalakshetra at
a time when
renowned teachers of the performing arts worked and flourished.
C.V. Chandrasekhar carried the high standards that he had imbibed to the teaching
of Bharatanatyam at the Benaras Hindu University. Subsequently, he joined M.S.
University, Baroda as professor and head of department (1980-1993). Having moved
to Chennai subsequent to retirement, he remains one of the most sought after
teachers of dance and choreography. C.V. Chandrasekhar teaches at Nrityashree,
the school established by him along with his wife Jaya in Chennai dedicated
to the teaching of dance and choreography. He continues to offer workshops in
India and abroad.

Jaya Chandrasekhar
A dancer in her own right, Jaya Chandrasekhar continues to ably
assist
C.V. Chandrasekhar in the teaching of dance at their school
and at workshops in India and abroad.
Chitra Chandrasekhar Dasarathy
Chitra grew up with melody and rhythm, watching her parents Jaya and C.V.Chandrasekhar dance,
teach and live through their dance. Chitra believes that expression through dance can energize
space- within and without. In this context teaching is essential to her work with dance. She has
been teaching Bharatanatyam privately to both beginners and advanced students since 1985.
Manjari
Trained by her parents, Manjari performs and teaches in keeping
with the high standards established by her parents. She performs individually
and together with her sister Chitra.
